Notices before surgery
  • Diseases or allergies, both past and present, should be reported during consultation with doctor. It is also recommended that you receive a medical checkup from a physician or the operating surgeon of plastic surgery in advance.
  • Drugs that can increase bleeding such as aspirin, vitamin supplements, contraceptive pills, and oriental medicine should not be taken for at least one week before surgery.
  • Smoking cigarettes hinders scar recovery after surgery and increases risks of side effects such as infection so it is advised that you quit smoking at least 1~2 weeks before surgery.
  • It is suggested to visit the hospital in comfortable clothes and shoes without heels. For tops, anything with a front opening or zip up is recommended as they are easy to take off at home.
  • Wearing sunglasses or a cap would make going home more comfortable.
Notices after surgery
  • Stitch
  • - Stitches are removed about 3~5 days after surgery in case of eyelid, and after about 4~7 days in case of slit surgery.
  • Swelling or bruise
  • - Swelling or bruise is not too serious. Noticeable swelling or bruising generally disappears after 3~4 days so it is possible to return to daily life after then, and disappears completely after 1~2 weeks.
  • Ice pack or hot pack
  • - Ice packs should be applied to area of swelling until removal of stitches, and after removal a hot pack may be applied if necessary.
  • Washing
  • - After removing stitches, it is possible to wash lightly, and before that, it is good to run some water over your face without use of a towel.
  • Make up
  • - It is possible to apply light make up upon washing after removal of stitches. However, it is good to avoid eyeliner or mascara for about 2~3 weeks.
  • Wearing lenses
  • - Requires pulling of the eyelid when wearing, so it is recommended not to worn for about two weeks.
  • Alcohol, cigarettes
  • - It is good to avoid alcohol and cigarettes for at least two weeks.
  • Jjimjilbang, sauna, exercise
  • - Light walks are ok immediately after surgery, but it is good to avoid aggressive exercise, jjimjilbang, or sauna for about three weeks after surgery.
