What is the natural thing? It depends on people. If a breast of 15-year-old girl which is elastic and abundant would be 40-year-old woman who gave two childbirths, it could be less abundant and soft and slightly sagged. By the way, if she decided to get breast augmentation surgery to improve the sagging one and make the upper part of breast abundantly when she is forty, then she would get surgery with solid implants. Then the breast would be felt like the appearance of 18 years old before being pregnant. Then, is it natural? It is unnatural compared to soft, sagged and the upper part is empty breast. However, does it accepted to her as natural thing?

Naturalness is relative. It depends on what women have, what women want and the thing that could be accepted and paid the price.

The correlation between naturalness and durability of implants

1. As durability of implants is good, the risk to do reoperation would be decreased for life. Reoperation has risk and expenses.

2. As for the quality or technique which is possible to be used in the present, there should be weaknesses for durability and naturalness of implants.

3. If you want to keep implants for a long time, you should give up a little for naturalness.

4. Natural breast is the only breast in the natural status without surgery.

Natural breast is not the breast inserted implants. If you want natural breast completely, then you should not get augmentation surgery.

5. Naturalness is relative. It depends on what women have, what women want and the thing that could be accepted and paid the price.

1) Thickness of shell of implants

As the external shell of implants is thinner, you could less feel that implants exist in your breast, and implants with thin shell are more natural. However, as the present quality of shell, as it is thinner, it is weaker and as it is weaker, the durability is decreased. The most implants which are manufactured in the present have thicker shell than the implants made 20 years ago. Implants of 20 years ago might be more natural, but durability is decreased. Implants in today, the shell has been thicker to increase durability generally, this helps to increase life of shell and implants (there are many factors to affect life of implants shell, but the thickness of shell is the first factor to affect life of implants).

Many doctors do not want to listen to dissatisfaction that implants are felt from patients, so sometimes they recommend implants with thin shell. The problem is that the doctor had consultation with you for every factor to affect naturalness.

2) Thickness of skin tissue covered implants

The thing that has influence on that you can feel the implants or not is not only thickness of implants shell. Thickness and characteristics of your tissue is quite important factor. Especially, your tissue cannot be changed, so you should surely understand the limitation and price that your tissue should bear.

If you are thin and the rib inner part of the breast is touched, then though latest implants are used, regardless of thickness of implants shell, you could feel the boundary of implants.

If your tissue is thin, it is impossible to change it. Even doctor cannot change it. For your tissue cannot be changed (if you gain weight very much, it would not change so much), if you cannot accept that the implants are felt, then you should consider the breast augmentation surgery one more time.

The thing that implants are felt would be problem (it is no different from that feeling of rib, mostly). The thing that boundary of implants is shown is big problems to most of patients. If you are thin, it is possible to use special surgical method like inserting implants under the muscle, and prevent that boundary of implants is shown, mostly. However, no technique or inserting location guarantee that everyone cannot feel implants beyond the problems that tissue is thin.

Many women try to be thin by spending no small time and efforts and money, and to keep it, and on our experiences, many patients are thin. The thin patient with thick tissue satisfies with the result of breast augmentation surgery. However, we never heard that thin patient with thin tissue complains that the implants are felt. Why? Because we covered the implants partially by mobilizing every possible surgical method. This was for that we had consultation for choice of patient and its price for that before surgery.

3) Amounts of filler of implants

It the amount of filler of implants important? We believe that it is very important. Regardless of quality or shape of filler to prevent folding of shell or collapse, there is no doubt that filler should be filled properly.

As for every women who got surgery with less filled implants, the time to get reoperation is earlier than surgery with proper implants, and this means that the risk and expenses of reoperation is increasing.

Among implants which is more natural and smoother but folded shell, and implants which have low possibility of reoperation of slightly stiff but protected shell, what is your choice? You should choose. It’s your body.

The amount of filler in implants is very important (regardless of the kinds of filler is saline solution or silicone), but it is the issue that patients or doctor can fail to notice easily.

According to amounts of filler in the implants, the shell would be folded or collapsed when implants are in the body. If, the shell of implants (qualities used in today) are collapsed or folded, then it strains shell and it would be worn out soon. If the shell of implants is folded, then the possibility to see with naked eye or feel wrinkle on the breast is increasing.

For a while, let’s suppose that you are holding empty implants. The quality of shell or size has no relation. The quality of filler to insert implants has no relation, too. When filler is put to implants (like liquid is put to balloon), and then the shell is swelling. If fewer amounts would fill the filler, then implants are smooth, but shell would be loosed. If implants would be leaned to be vertical, then shell would be collapsed and folded. If filler would be filled more, the implants would be expanded and has low possibility to be folded when it is stood vertically.

Any implants or any qualities of filler, it is occurring as following phenomenon:

1. The more amounts of filler would be put to implants; the risk that shell would be folded is decreased.

2. The more amounts of filler would be put to implants; the implants would be hardened. A little stiffness is price for durability.

3. When the line that shell of implants can afford is over, then shell could be distorted.

Let’s apply this fact as filling real shell of implants. The manufacturing company is recommended that saline solution of 300cc~330cc is optimal amounts to fill these implants. It is pretty good to see on the table, but when these implants are leaned vertically by supporting with one hand (not to push) and put on one hand, then what phenomenon would be occurring? The upper part of shell would be collapsed and folded. When the shell is folding, it is possible that breast could have noticeable wrinkle and this can cause rupture of shell.

If you want to keep the shell of implants as long as possible, then you should be careful that the shell of implants would be collapsed or folded.

If you fill more saline solution than recommended amounts of manufacturing company, let’s examine which phenomenon would be occurring. Though 330cc was filled as recommended by manufacturing company, the shell is folded by leaning test. Let’s investigate that it would be possible to prevent that the shell is folded by standing vertically how much saline solution would be filled. Until not to be folded or collapsed when it is stood vertically, saline solution was added gradually. How much saline solution would be required not to be folded when the implant is stood vertically? 360cc. But why manufacturing company did not increase the recommended amounts not to prevent that shell is folding?

That is a good question. Let’s put 390cc by adding saline solution to investigate what problem would be happened if it is filled too much. The shell is distorted and the boundary is crushed. The sure thing is if it is filled too much, then, problem is occurring to a certain time.
